OFCC Selects Chovan as Interim Executive Director

October 31, 2014 (COLUMBUS) The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) has named senior staffer David Chovan as interim executive director. Chovan, who currently serves as the commission's chief financial and operating officer, succeeds the current executive director, Richard Hickman, who is retiring from the post, effective Oct. 31. Chovan's appointment is effective Nov. 1, 2014.

Chovan has served with the Commission for over 3 years. Prior to that, he served for 10 years as Business Operations Manager at the General Services Division of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services and was employed 16 years with the City of Columbus. David is a graduate of Capital University and the graduate program at the Ohio State University. He lives in Morrow County with his wife, Sheri.

The appointment was announced at a special meeting of the Commission held on October 30th. Commission Chairman Tim Keen indicated there may be future special meetings called as the Commission finalizes the process for selecting a permanent director

About OFCC

Established in 1997, the Commission is responsible for administration of the state’s school construction and renovation program. The Commission is currently working with, or has completed all necessary work in, nearly two-thirds of the state’s 613 school districts.

On September 10, 2012, the Commission was consolidated with the Office of the State Architect to form the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The Ohio School Facilities Commission continues to exist as a separate commission within the new agency, focusing on funding Ohio’s comprehensive K-12 school construction program.
