Williamson Named OFCC Executive Director

David M. Williamson November 4, 2015 (COLUMBUS) - The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission has approved the selection of David M. Williamson as the permanent Executive Director.

Mr. Williamson is currently the Superintendent for the Division of Industrial Compliance at the Ohio Department of Commerce, a position he has held during both the Kasich and Taft administrations. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and spent 28 years in active duty in the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Colonel.

Mr. Williamson earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Montana. He is a member of Rotary International where he has served as the Fundraising Chair, Master Sergeant-at-Arms, and Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee.

He will begin his duties with the Commission on Monday, November 9th. He will succeed David Chovan, who has served as the interim Executive Director since October 2014. Mr. Chovan will remain as Chief Operations Officer for the Commission.

About OFCC

Established in 1997, the Commission is responsible for administration of the state’s school construction and renovation program. The Commission is currently working with, or has completed all necessary work in, nearly two‐thirds of the state’s 613 school districts.

On September 10, 2012, the Commission was consolidated with the Office of the State Architect to form the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The Ohio School Facilities Commission continues to exist as a separate commission within the new agency, focusing on funding Ohio’s comprehensive K‐12 school construction program.
